• The Beginning

For more than forty years, Elta Fans has been at the forefront of the industry as a result of technological advances in fan design and engineering, providing customers with a wide spectrum of products for a large variety of applications.

Established in 1974, Elta Fans initially produced circulating fans for high temperature applications before expanding our capabilities in fan design to focus on supplying Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). Expansion and growth came quickly as Elta Fans continued to match application knowledge and expertise in fan engineering with customers’ needs in a variety of applications including heat exchangers, engine room cooling, oil rigs and dry cleaning machinery.

The development of expertise in axial flow fan technology generated sales growth in both the UK and international markets and, in order to meet the increased demand, in 1992 the company relocated to Fareham where it initially occupied a purpose built 1200m2 unit, later extended to 2000m2.

By 1996, following the retirement of its founders, Elta Fans was acquired as the principal company in the newly formed Elta Group. Remaining a privately owned company, substantial investment has supported Elta Fans' continued expansion on an international scale.

In 1998, Elta Fans moved into a 4000m2 factory built alongside the existing Fareham facility. This major investment crucially included a modern research and development facility built to international standards which enabled the company to accelerate the programme of product design and innovation. This was demonstrated by the development of the world's first adjustable pitch mixed flow impeller; a major breakthrough that had long defeated fan manufacturers. Two completely new ranges of highly efficient axial flow impellers were also created which extended the company's fan capabilities up to 2m diameter.

Having established an enviable reputation as a supplier of quality fans for industrial and OEM customers, in 1999 the company entered the Building Services market in its own right with the Elta Select range. This brought together a range of standard products, generally available from stock, supported by an easy-to-use catalogue and a sales team dedicated to servicing this particular market.

By 2001, Elta Select had become so successful that an additional 2500m2 warehouse, assembly and sales office facility was opened in Dudley. Having outgrown this facility in 2006, this section of the business was relocated to a 5000m2 facility in nearby Kingswinford.

In more recent years, the company's position in the industrial, marine and OEM markets which fall under the Applied Technology division, have all been strengthened. Today, Elta Fans has one of the most comprehensive and flexible ranges of general purpose fans available in the industry and is one of the UK’s major suppliers to the Building Services market.

Elta Fans is a leader in fan manufacture for a number of sectors including smoke extract with a comprehensive range certified to EN12101-3, car park ventilation with jet impulse and induction technology, and hazardous areas with fans created under the ATEX standard. Within the field of air movement, Elta Fans products have developed around building services applications, air coolers and refrigeration, offshore and marine, industrial processing, traction and other specialist markets.

Elta Fans’ products are available internationally, either through appointed distributors or companies manufacturing under license; several of which are also part of Elta Group.
