Elta Fans has congratulated Transport for London (TfL) as winners of the Elta sponsored category of the 2010 CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers) Low Carbon Performance Awards.

TfL was one of 15 companies that proved victorious in the annual awards - staged by CIBSE on 3 February at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London - taking the \'Client of the Year: Energy Performance\' category.

The Award was presented by David Osgerby, MD of Elta Fans, to Andrew Stanton of TfL.

David comments \"we saw the sponsorship of this award as an ideal fit for us given the focus we have on an environmentally sustainable approach to building. I would like to congratulate Andrew and his team at TfL on their commitment to saving energy. TfL is obviously a major user of energy in the infrastructure it uses in getting commuters and visitors around the nation\'s capital. When such high profile organisations place energy saving at the heart of what they do, it can only help to raise the profile of its importance generally.\"

The annual awards scheme rewards those who have delivered demonstrable carbon savings in the design and management of buildings. The role of the client in encouraging, supporting and investing in carbon reduction is seen as a critical part of the process, with the judges looking for evidence of such in both the construction of the building and also in the efforts made to raise carbon awareness amongst the building occupants.

David continues - \"It was particularly pleasing to see even more people at the Awards than in 2009, hopefully indicative of the ever increasing focus on reducing the carbon footprints of buildings.\"
